چکيده فارسي: مفهوم «جهاني شدن» به فرآيندي اطلاق مي‌شود كه طي آن جريان آزاد انديشه، انسان، كالا، خدمات، و سرمايه در دنيا ميسر گردد. تأثير اين مفهوم، دگرگوني متغيرهاي زمان و مكان را پديد آورده و گسترش ارتباطات در سطح بين‌المللي قابليت وقوع يافته است. بر اين قرار، داده‌هاي كمي اطلاعات در صحنه جهاني ابعاد وسيعي يافته و موجب رشد شبكه ارتباطات در صحنه بين‌المللي از نظر روابط فردي و اجتماعي شده است. در مقاله حاضر، ضمن توجه به جهاني‌شدن گستره اطلاعاتي در جهان معاصر، به ارزيابي موضوعات مذكور مبادرت شده، و در نهايت به نتيجه‌گيري درباره تأثيرات آن بر كتابداري و اطلاع‌رساني پرداخته مي‌شود.

چکيده انگليسي:  Globalization is assigned to a process whereby the free flow of thought, human beings, goods, services and capital is made possible throughout the world. The concept has impacted in a way that it has transformed spatial as well as temporal variables. International communications has expanded. In this new convention, information quantities have blown up out of proportion and led to the growth of international communication networks, whether personal or social. The present paper would deal with these topics and draws conclusions based on their impacts on librarianship and information profession.

چکيده فارسي: با ورود به عصر اطلاعات ، نهاد آموزش از نخستين نهادهايي است كه دستخوش تغييرات اساسي شده. آموزش الكترونيكي به عنوان پاراديمي جديد، اين حوزه را متحول ساخته است. با توجه به قابليت‌هاي بسيار بالاي  اين سيستم آموزشي و حجم عظيم تقاضا براي آموزش، و ناتواني نظام آموزشي كنوني در پاسخگويي به آن، در باب ضرورت به‌كارگيري و اهميت آموزش الكترونيكي ترديدي وجود ندارد .آنچه مطرح است شيوه و چگونگي اين آموزش است.كتابخانه‌ها نيز به عنوان زيرسيستم نظام آموزشي، ‌بايد همگام با تغييرات پيش بروند و نسبت به ارائه‌ خدمات جديد و متناسب با نياز روز، اقدام نمايند.

چکيده انگليسي: The educational institution was among the early institutions undergoing radical changes with the dawn of the information age. Electronic Learning, as a new paradigm, has evolved this area. Given its potential, the shear volume of demand for education, and the ineffectuality of present educational system in addressing it, leaves no room for doubting both the necessity and importance of e-learning. What is at stake is the nature and mode of deployment of such learning. As a subsystem of the educational system, the libraries should keep pace with change and try to incorporate this new learning mode within their operational and service structure.

چکيده فارسي: عصر دانش شرايط و چالش‌هاي جديدي را براي سازمان‌ها و گروه‌هاي حرفه‌اي گوناگون به وجود آورده است. درک نيروها و گرايش‌هايي که آينده قلمرو دانش را شکل مي‌دهند براي کتابداران بسيار مهم است. اقتصاد دانش در يک محيط چند شبکه‌‌اي شکل مي‌گيرد. در اقتصاد شبکه‌اي، شبکه روابط بسيار مهمتر از مالکيت اموال و دارايي است. مقاله حاضر به اين موضوع مي‌پردازد که چگونه کتابداران به کارکنان دانش تبديل می‌شوند و ديگر گروه‌هاي کاري دانش را پشتيباني می‌کنند. نقشه‌ها و مهارت‌هاي جديد (بويژه مهارت‌هاي ارتباطی و ميان فردی که نقش عمده‌اي در آماده‌سازي فراورده‌هاي اطلاعاتي جديد ايفا مي‌کنند) به عنوان پايه و اساس بحث، منظور شده‌اند.

چکيده انگليسي:  The knowledge age has created a new context and challenges for different organizations and professional groups. Understanding the forces and trends that are shaping the future of the knowledge territory is very important for librarians. The knowledge economy exists in a multi-networked environment. Under the “network economy” the network of relationships is more important than the ownership of assets. This paper concentrates on how librarians become knowledge workers and support other knowledge workers’ communities. The new roles and skills (particularly communication and interpersonal skills which play a great role in preparing new information products) are presented as a basis for the discussion.
